Lots goes on when we all get together in Colorado, but this summer we realized it was time to let some people in on some of our family's real traditions so...
We went to The Flying W Ranch to support the cowboy band and eat an authentic ranch meal!!
And for some people in the group (Eric, Mark and Tiffany) it was their first time!
We all got some lassoing experience and realized being a cowboy takes some serious skills.
Also, Steph proved just how challenging it is to be a successful 'lefty-cowboy'.
I sweet talked one of the Flying W Wranglers in the Band to dedicate a song to Eric - "Felina" - and sure enough, they added it to their performance that night! We happened to get seated in the front row, so they pointed us out to everyone, It was so romantical. Haha.
You can listen to the Wrangler sing the song here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHqEPscuwPg
Eric had his 25th birthday!
We ate out at Rudy's BBQ, surprised him with streamers and balloons, and a nice cake with 25 candles!
And he opened some gifts like this really cool t-shirt, don't worry you'll see more of it in a minute.
We took a scenic drive up Pikes Peak and for some people in the group (Eric) it was their first time!
And yes, Eric and I thew on our Mountain Dude and Babe shirts we had just been given the day before for a few amazingly and totally not nerdy photos. I guess we are still deserving of 'special' attention since we still reign at the top of the newly-wed list. (A-hem, Denny I think its your turn to get serious so the family can spoil you with extra attention, just look at what you are missing!!)
Wait a second... Ellie!!
Funny story, we had to stop at the brake check because Mom's brakes were dangerously hot! But it gave us a nice snack break and some time to take in some more views.
We had some silly fun and played games. Family times are so refreshing!
Sorry that it is mostly sideways, but its still pretty funny.
My friend and forever teammate Tiffany came and stayed at the Lodge as well this summer! It was soo much fun having her and she brought her boyfriend Drew along which made it even more of a treat! And here they are enjoying the train tunnel hike.
