Halloween Happenings

Happy Halloween 2011! 

There are 3 things that make Halloween Halloween to me. 

1) Pumpkins 

2) Dressing Up

3) Candy, lots of Candy

We successfully celebrated Halloween this year and Mi-chelle-share-halloween with you now!

1) Pumpkins.
Eric and Karl wanted to get their pumpkins from a real farm. I talked with some clients and heard about Bates Nut Farm in Valley Center. Sunday afternoon we drove out to Bates Nut Farm to pick our Pumpkins!

The boys were a bit skeptical that farms exist in California, so when we arrived they were happy to see I took them to a place "just like in the Midwest". The only difference - it was almost 80 degrees! Haha!

 Lots of people had the same idea -this farm was full! 

It was a real farm in California...there were cute baby chickens running around! 

(I was hoping to buy one of these to take home as my new pet, 

but Eric reminded me that we came for Pumpkins)

 The farm had fresh eggs for sale.

 

 And lots of nuts for sale...it was after-all Bates Nut Farm!

It had real live farmers, who helped us find our seats for the tractor ride!

In all seriousness, Karl said he wants to grow up and be the farmer with the fanny-pack.

 It had typical 'farm decorations'.  And a 'watering hole' that of course Eric saw and decided he was thirsty.

It even had a Hay Bale Maze!!

 

Where we found a hidden stamp game! 

 

This of course turned into a competitive race!! 

 And yes, Eric won.

But back to why we went to Bates Nut Farm - THE PUMPKINS!!!

Whoops, I mean these kind of Pumpkins!

And so we went home to carve the pumpkins!

2) Dressing Up. We tried out a few ideas.....

And we were inspired by some others....

Charlie's sweater, Katie sporting her home-made grape costume, and Owen (Steph's dog) the spider

But when the time came on Halloween Night, these were our costumes of choice:

Eric pointed out that it looks like I was mostly inspired by Charlie's sweater hahaha!

 

3) Candy, lots of Candy.
